I
earned a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Studies from the University
of Hawaii – Aiea, Hawaii in 1985. In 1999 I received a Master
of Education in Counseling and in 2004 a Doctorate of Philosophy in
Counseling and Higher Education both degrees were earned at the University
of North Texas in Denton, Texas.
I am a Licensed
Professional Counselor and Supervisor. This means I have passed the
Texas State Board of Examiners of Licensed Professional Counselors
Examination and I have completed at least 3000 hours of supervised
counseling sessions along with numerous hours of classroom study.
I have taken counselor training courses that allow me to supervise
Interns who are working toward their license.
During my training
as a counselor I have counseled victims and their families of sexual
abuse and incest. I did an internship as a High School Counselor.
I was given the opportunity to work with numerous couples, families,
parents, children, individuals, and groups at the Family and Child
Resource Clinic at the University of North Texas. Most recently I
worked as a clinical director and counselor for people with life long
pain.
I consider myself
a relationship counselor. I enjoy working with individuals, couples,
families, parents, children, and groups. I believe when a person is
unhappy in a relationship, be it family, friend, or just unhappy in
general, learning the courage to change one’s self or one’s
actions can have very positive results.
